Here are different kitchen styles

Shaker Style

Shaker style kitchens are amongst the most popular and common options, and these made to measure kitchen cabinets are constructed of five pieces of flat panel – there is a frame made of four pieces, with a single flat panel in the middle. Shaker cabinets are traditional, classic and elegant, and are great if you are looking for a timeless finish – they can be brought up to date with contemporary accessories, or else give the country treatment with classic handles.

Louvered cabinets are at the high end of the budget, but they are well worth the expense. These types of units include made to measure kitchen doors and drawer fronts, and feature a series of horizontal slats, usually made of wood, which offer a unique and personalised style – this is not something you will see in every kitchen. If you are on the hunt for cheap kitchen units, this may not be the best option.

A slab cabinet, also known as a flat-panel cabinet, is a simple, single piece of material, usually used in high gloss doors. The end result is flat and smooth, and this makes a great reflective surface; this means that slab cabinets are very popular in kitchens with a modern, contemporary vibe.

Inset style cabinets feature an inset door, which is set inside the frame of the cabinet, instead of outside the frame. These are very precise, with detailed, exact measurements – and this means that they can come with a hefty price tag. Inset cabinets often come in as some of the most expensive options on the market, but their classic look is timeless, and this is a style designed to last the test of time.

If you are looking for a traditional antique style, distressed cupboards and drawers come with an old door style, and a number of techniques are employed to offer an ‘old’ feel, such as rubbing off certain corners and details.

Thermofoil cabinets are a great option for those on a budget, as they are constructed from MDF, and then wrapped in plastic style coating, before being heated to high temperatures to seal it in place. The end result is a hardy, durable cabinet, able to withstand adverse conditions, and coming in at an affordable budget, allowing you to transform your kitchen without having to break the bank.

Choosing your ideal kitchen style will have an impact on the overall feel and atmosphere of your space – the humble kitchen cabinets can have a significant impact, and play a large part in the overall atmosphere and aesthetic.
